Re: psu replacement

what are you running
video card
cpu
m/board
ram
power supply
brand
wattage

check the listings in the bios for voltages and temperatures and post them

put the plugs that fit into the m/b alongside one another and check the same coloured wires go to the same pins on the plug

Re: psu replacement

Firstly I would disconnect all non essential devices in your computer (i.e. CD ROM, Hard Disk, PCI cards, etc) only connect your keyboard and monitor to see if the new power supply is actually working.

If your processor or GFX card require additional power ensure that the power connectors are properly pushed in - Most new processors have a square 4 pin power connector on the motherboard. Some newer graphics cards need a molex connector attaching.

If that does not stop the beeping try reseating your memory and your GFX card (two common causes for beeping).

If you have your motherboard manual or can find the make and model and download the manual you may be able to diagnose the sequence of beeps to determine exactly what the problem is.

All the best
Phil Layton
