Hey Guys My Computer doesn't sart up anymore,
I Get A green Light on my motherboard to show it gets power. I tried connecting evrything up again. not sure if this is connected to it but since 3 nights ago my computer started to go really slow like it would boot in 4 minuetes then it started to boot in 10 mins and then i just had itunes and some folders open and it would take 10 minuets just to go back to normal then i would click minimize and then it takes 10 minuets to calm down again. It used to run so well. And then it only took 4 seconds to shutdown then its 11 and after last night my computer wont turn on. anyone help please? my specs are AMD2 4800= 2.5GHZ 2 Gigs Of Ram 1 130ig HDD 1 250 HDD Could it be my power supply? as it is a cheap one i bought and is 300Watts it doesnt turn on at all and when it did turn on it made a nokia type sound when the battery is going flat like dutt or something. Thanks |

Re: Computer Won't Start Up Anymore.
yes it well could be you underpowered power supply 300 watts is really marginally okay ...simple to replace it with a good quality 400 watt or higher power supply.

understand since it will not boot up at all that is why I suspect the power supply maybe kaput! try removing all your ram and see if it will attempt to power up and boot!

Nope - So long as you have power at the wall socket and have tested the fuse in the 'Kettle Lead' then no light on MOBO = a blown PSU, 100%, Brown-bread, dead
![]() ----------- Cheapest option: Get yourself off down the tip and grab one out of a chassis - Test it [At risk of it being faulty anyways] and see if it works, if so - Replace your PSU!

Re: Computer Won't Start Up Anymore.
green light on motherboard does not mean your PSU is good does your cpu cooler fan run anything else humming if not your PSU is shot most likely they are inexpensive ....you can try removing all of your ram memory sticks to see if that will allow your pc to power up to more than just a green light on the mobo?

Re: Computer Won't Start Up Anymore.
Nothing goes,i turn on the power at the back the light goes on i press power and nothing happens.
But i am pretty sure it is the power supply because when i flick it off and press the power button it used to just quickly turn off because it knew there wasn't any power. Now it just takes awhile to realize there is no power. but it could also mean that my power switch wire is bad? |

Re: Computer Won't Start Up Anymore.
AS you mentioned your computer has gone considerably slow, Software conflicts/worms/malware could be the reasons. But as you said it doesn't come on at all, did you try discharging static?? if not then rip all the cables ("Every single cable including Power, mice, KB, printer, monitor & USB/Flash drive, if any") from the back of your computer. Now press and hold on/off button on your computer for about 10 seconds. During all this your computer would be lying dead but it'll discharge the static on MOBO. When done, Plug all cable back and try to turn it on. If no luck still, you could be up for a new Power supply/MOBO/RAM

Re: Computer Won't Start Up Anymore.
Guys don't worry i got it fixed it wasn't my power supply.
I was reading about a power supply failure thing and i used a flat head screw driver and my computer booted up! Then I took out the power switch and it worked. I guess I might need a new case now though. Thanks for everything. |
