Cool memory question for r51e think pad

I purchased and installed two (as specified) 533mhz 1gb crucial sticks to upgrade my 51e's memory. with both installed the computer turns on but only to a black screen-no dimm error beeps etc...Any idea what could be the issue? I put in either or and they operate fine so I am a bit stumped

It's most likely incompatible ram did you use the Crucial Memory Advisor utility?
What is the 4 digit Type number after the R51 of your model?

Re: memory question for r51e think pad

yeah I did that...they had said the r51e was older and the replacements were obsolete etc. That is why i got the edgetech "recommended" replacement which didn't work-then went to the forum where a 51e user said the above had solved similar issue. Hence my nervousness to follow another recommended 'match". these say they are 1g 200 pin ddr2 sodimm 128x64 & s200-ddr2-4200-cl4-10-648...does this tell you something?
