what could be the problum????
i have a hp desktop and it will turn on but my monitor says it has no signal and nothan happens on my keyboard but the cd try still opens and my fans still kick on. so i hooked up my monitor to my tv and it jus turned off my tv. does anyone know whats wrong with this and how to fix it???????

If I understand this correctly you have a faulty video card.
Is your video on the MB or do you have a PCI card etc? Can you try to re attach your moniter, shut down the system, unplugg the power and push the start button a couple of time, then plug the pwr back in, and turn the system on? Is it still lacking signal? Thx |

You have 2 display choices and at least one of them is a known good, neither display.
You could add a video card to your system in a PCI or AGP slot(if you could still find one of those cards). The problem is that you might have to go in to the BIOS and change the display to the add in card, but the catch 22 is that you can't go in to the BIOS, because you have no display. You might be lucky enough to have a jumper on the MB that will switch this, but were talking old school here. Maybe one of our guru HW mods here has another suggestion. . |
