My System

PSU problem...may be

My system specs are:

XFX 680i LT SLI mobo
Corsair XMS2/DHX DDR2 2 GB @ 800 MHZ
eVGA 9600 GT
WD 640 GB SATA
Cooler Master iGreen 500W

now the problem is first I got a xfx 9800 GT which should take 26 AMP on 12V rail where as my PSU has 33AMPs total on 12 V rail...but it started to over heat and when I read the box it said 40A on 12 V rail Then I bought this card. Now my system ain't starting at all. Like if I put the 2 rams in my system the system doesn't start and when I put one ram the system boots and now my DVD RW drive of sony doesn't work either. As the system boots it gives a green light and doesnt read the disc which I put inside it by forcing it to eject via the pin.

Now as far as I know it's due to an underpowered system and i need a power supply, correct me if I am wrong though:

the corsair TX 850W ain't available in Pakistan and the distributor ran out of the TX 750 as well..Now I asked him to tell me when will his next shipment arrive and at what rate he shall be giving me...he advised me to get this supply or Cooler Master:

http://www.coolermaster.com/products...ate=22&id=5176

is this better than Corsair's supplies or should I buy the corsair one?

Also are 2 9600 GT in SLI better in performance than a 9800 GT or a 9800 GTX+? as I planning to put another 9600 GT? or a dual card configuration would yield much better results?

Re: PSU problem...may be

First of all, Corsair is way above the quality of anything else you have mentioned. Second, a 500 watt power supply is not nearly enough for even this single 9600gt video card, you need a bare minimum of a 550 to 600 watt power supply and if you are planning on upgrading to a 9800gt, then you need a 650 watt power supply and if you are going to sli with a 9800gt series, then you need a 750 as a minimum and preferrably an 850.

The Coolermaster you have listed is not one of their good supplies. With Coolermaster, the only great supply they have is the Coolermaster Real Power Pro. Bear in mind, the Coolermaster Real Power IS NOT the same as the Real Power Pro. A different manufacturer makes each supply, so don't get the real power series, while the Real Power Pro is an excellent supply.

Re: PSU problem...may be

Ok thanks mate...then I will have to wait for the distributor to get a corsair psu. Otherwise will buy a TX650W that is available and so is HX620W.

Re: PSU problem...may be

You might be wise to wait for the 750TX. It is a super power supply.

Re: PSU problem...may be

okies..but if the distributor says it will take more than a month to restock then I might have to sell out the graphics card as well...then buy both later on...or will go for the TX 650 one.
