Re: corsar ram upgrade on p23g v3.0

Are you sure the ram is in the proper slots, check mobo manual for
population rules. If your board supports dual mode the ram has to be
in particular slots, if you post all system specs its very helpful. Sometimes
ram can be tough to install, you have to use more downward pressure
than you would think, and sometimes just because you hear it click that
dosent always mean its seated enough..

Have you tried swapping sticks and using each stick 1 at a time in one socket and then the other.

Re: corsar ram upgrade on p23g v3.0

Wonder why my post didnt take, this site has been acting wierd lately.
I said about the same thing, thinking that the one stick may be bad.
Then I posted for him to go into bios and make sure the voltage was
set as per the specs on the ram,,humm, then I said to try different ram.

Re: corsar ram upgrade on p23g v3.0

Try using one stick. It registers 512mb.
where is the voltage noted on the ram chip?
are there setup settings to be looked at and changed?

thanks, jos

Re: corsar ram upgrade on p23g v3.0

Either you have 2 512 sticks instead of 1gig sticks or the ram is not compatible with the system. Corsair does not list the PC Chips MB for that part number ram, while that only means it has not been tested with the board in this case if they are 1 gig sticks I would think they are incompatible,> http://www.corsair.com/configurator/...ts.aspx?id=486

Is that part number on the sticks or on the box they came in?
Also worth noting of the configuration utilities I searched all that listed the board only recommended DDR ram for it and made no recommendation for the DDR2.

Re: corsar ram upgrade on p23g v3.0

the part number (vs2gbkit533d2) is on the box -- paired chips. the chip has the same number without the 'kit'.

The mob has two slots for DDR and two slots for DDR2. It came with two 256 ddr2 chips. Manual describes the function but give no info on needed setup changes. You assume auto install.

Does anyone know if there are bios settings to be configured?

If I put in 1 chip I get 512. They act the same. only 1/2 ram shows. in all slot placement.

Re: corsar ram upgrade on p23g v3.0

I'd have to think the ram is not compatible with the board.
