New PSU, recommended Power?

I need to replace my power supply, but have no clue what power I need to run my computer.

Windows Vista Home Premium (build 6000)
nVidia GeForce 8600 GT
4GB DDR2 RAM
2.40 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
4096 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Any suggestions?

Re: New PSU, recommended Power?

This supply should pull that card without difficulty. If you plan on upgrading to a single 8800 in the near future, then go for a 650 watt. If you plan on one of the newer cards that are post 8800, then you need to go even higher with a quality supply. However, for this particular card, here is an option that I would consider since it is on sale right now:

Re: New PSU, recommended Power?

You want a quality psu, was looking at the Corsair 550TX at newegg, but the 650 is the same price 70US as the 550, after rebate on both. The 650 with run any card up to the 9800GTX, so would be good for a graphics update too. Lowest I've ever seen the unit, and it's generally acknowledged as the best in it's class. Very quiet operation too, a recommended power supply at Silent PC Review.

Aagh, had to go to the washroom part way through typing, gotta get in there between showers here. Beaten again by tw.

Anyway, the 650 has the same after rebate price. Still can't believe that, too bad they don't have the same prices at newegg.ca , I'd be all over that one.

Re: New PSU, recommended Power?

Good find grimx133, so if the same price or even near would also recommend the 650 Corsair.

Well grimx133, my friend, I finally beat you typing...now I am not sure I buy that had to leave story, but I got you anyhow..HA!

Thanks for the good detective work on the 650 price, the OP here is the winner if he goes for the 650.
