my comp wont come on after ram is installed
hello. i have a dell inspiron e1405 laptop that started off with originally 512 mb of ram. im tryin to upgrade it to the full 2 gb. the 2 gbs i have are crucial (1 gb each) with a speed of 667. when i take the original 512 out and install 1 gb into slot A, it works fine, but when i put either the 512 or the other gig into slot b, my comp wont come on. when i put the gig in, my num lock and cap lock flash and then my comp shuts down. im pretty sure i have the right type of ram, because the 1 gig works fine. (if not correct me plz) what could be the problem? thanks

Re: my comp wont come on after ram is installed
I would say first off... did you try the 1gb stick you know is working in the second slot? Maybe you have a bad ram slot? If not the configuration i presume they are talking about is in the bios.. usually F1, F2 or Del to enter it at system bootup. Not sure what they want you to change though. Is there any bios updates for your specific model that relate directly to ram? Sometimes doing the most recent bios doesnt work and doing one specifically related to the problem will strangely enough.

Re: my comp wont come on after ram is installed
Unplug the Power, remove the battery press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds, reinstall the battery, replug , first make sure the memory is completely seated laptops can be a pain to seat, don't rely on the clips that it is seated. then boot the system.

Re: my comp wont come on after ram is installed
If neither stick work in slot B but do in Slot A I think it's a motherboard problem.
Will the 512 stick work in Slot B? |
