Smoke coming out of computer - what caused it?
Hope someone can help me. I have an Advent computer and when I switched it on smoke started coming from the socket in the computer where the mains cable is plugged in. It had been working okay a few hours earlier. The computer ran fine on battery but would not charge or run off the mains. I took it back to the store as it is still under warranty but after checking it they said the problem was caused by a liquid spill and they refused to repair it. I have never spilt anything on the computer and would like some advice on what may have caused it so I can go back to them. Grateful for any advice you may be able to give me.

Re: Smoke coming out of computer - what caused it?
sounds more like a short between the m/b and the power connection or a faulty power block
take photo's of the laptop remove the bottom covers and take pictures so you have a record of no signs of a spillage then take it back to them,if they refuse to repair contact your consumer affairs[fair trading] and lodge a complaint
