I recently got 4 gigs of Kingston KHX8500d2k2/2g HyperX ram (2x2G) but my PC only recognises 2 gigs. It's not 32bit xp's fault because I took one out and it only sees 1 gb of each stick.
Now, a couple of weeks later, I started getting Blue Screens of Death while I was gaming or using the ram intensively. I suspected the ram so I ran memtest x86 but it froze halfway through. Then, I took one out and my PC wouldn't boot at all, or get stuck on the POST screen or the Windows loading screen. I think it's fried. I took it out and replaced it with the other one and it's working fine apart from the occasional BSod while intensive usage. Please help me because I want to use all of my ram (atleast 3gb on 32bit) I have a: Gigabyte GA-MA78g-ds3h rev 1.0 AMD Athlon X2 5600+ OC'd to 3GHz 500w PSU 8800 GTS 512 mb Thanks, Jake |

Re: KHX8500d2k2/2g causing BSoD's!
DDR2 1066 is only supported with AM2+ CPU's which would be a Phenom.
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=2800 AN 8800GTS on a 500w power supply is underpowered What Model and Brand is it? |

Re: KHX8500d2k2/2g causing BSoD's!
The computer store ripped me off, they must have made a mistake. I paid for 4GB of ram!!!
THe PSU is a no name brand generic psu, do you think that is causing the bsods? Thanks, Jake |

Re: KHX8500d2k2/2g causing BSoD's!
The PSU would be suspect in the freezing part of your problem look in the Bios on the pc health page for the Temps and Voltages 12, 5v, 3.3v post them.

Re: KHX8500d2k2/2g causing BSoD's!
Its not the ram's fault, i installed my old 512mb module and it still bsods, but now more randomly and sometimes during shutdown.
Voltages (they seem ok to me) Vcore 1.330v DDR2 1.8v: 1.840v +3.3v: 3.296v +12v: 11.858v Sys temp: 43C CPU temp: 38C The GPU can get up to 75C under heavy use Thanks fo ryour continued help, Jake |

Re: KHX8500d2k2/2g causing BSoD's!
11.85v with out a load in the Bios is worth a further look we see video problems starting around 11.7v lets see what speed fan reports for voltages while in use under load> http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Re: KHX8500d2k2/2g causing BSoD's!
OK:
Here is an update. I have upgraded my PC to Windows Vista x64 and a 600W PSU. Before when i still had xp, speedfan said the 12v was at 11.90v just before a BSoD. I think the BSoDs were due to hard drive corruption because I haven't had any since vista. However,, one of the Kingston ram modules is still broken, it ran fine for a while after I upgraded, and then my PC screen went blank, rebboted and wouldnt start because the mobo beep code said the Graphics card is not inserted properly. I took the faulty RAM out and it worked fine. What could this be? THanks, Jake |
