eMachines T5082 Ram Problem

I have an eMachines T5082 with Vista Home Basic. Motherboard has two slots for memory. I tried increasing memory from 2GB to 3GB, and the system shows it's only recognizing 2GB. Is there something I can do to make my system recognize 3GB?

Thanks for your time.

Your PC has a capacity of 1Gig per slot for a total of 2 Gig.

Re: eMachines T5082 Ram Problem

Thanks for the quick reponse! Is there anything I can do with the BIOS, or CMOS, or in Vista to make it recognize 3GB?

Re: eMachines T5082 Ram Problem

No if the board was only designed to support 2Gig the only choice is to replace the motherboard, If your running XP 2Gig should be all you need. Scratch that I see you have Vista did this come with Vista installed?
