Upgrading Ram on HP GH6000 laptop

I want to upgrade my HP g6000 laptop from it's current 2Gb of RAM but the specifications from HP say that the laptop will not accept more than 2GB.
Is this true and if so is there any way around this?

Thanks

Paul W.

No if the limit is 2Gig the limit is 2Gig, if your using xp 2gig is all you need for a laptop.

Re: Upgrading Ram on HP GH6000 laptop

I'm actually running Vista Home Premium which was supplied with the laptop, and I really do need to upgrade the memory... if that is the case then I'll have to get a new machine.
Limiting the usable / upgradable memory is just stupid - or should I say its a commercial trick to force you into buying a new PC, but you can bet it won't be an HP if that is the case.

Thanks

Re: Upgrading Ram on HP GH6000 laptop

Before Vista must laptops only ran 2Gig with XP there wasn't a reason for more, Sounds more like yours is still the older chipset that they installed Vista on instead of XP.
