Is my psu good enuff?
Ok so per advise from "TSF" I went out and bought a new PSU> It's a "Thermaltake, Black Widow, TR2-RX, 550w". I have an ESC board with 2GB SDRAM, 1TB Seagate Barracuda, Sony DVD/CD, Samsung CD, ATI Sapphire x1650pro running xp pro 2, all packed in an emachine T1742 tower. I tell ya what, with the 5.5" golden orb II cpu fan, the two 3.5" fans piggy-backed in the back, and the 6" fan in the new PSU, it feels like a wind tunnel coming out of there. I really don't think cooling will be a problem.
But anyway, if anyone out there could make some suggestions to better my system, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.Gary |

Re: Is my psu good enuff?
Garrry,
The only Thermaltake Power Supply the Hardware team recommends that I know of is the "Toughpower" series, so I don't think any hardware team member recommended you buy the "Black Widow" 550 model of Thermaltake. If I am wrong on that recommendation statement, please correct me. However, that doesn't mean it won't work with your setup, but I wanted to clear that issue up. It may very well be a very good power supply, and since it is a 550, it should run your rig. That being said, are you having issues with your rig right now that we can help you with? Looks like cooling should not be an issue since you have added that aftermarket cooler. Let us know if we can help.

Re: Is my psu good enuff?
Actually, Tumbleweed, it was you that suggest that I get a "Corsair" PSU, in the little town that I live in (and the surrounding areas) there isn't too mush for me to choose from. But i'm sure that it is much better than the generic PSU that I installed Saturday after frying my old original (also after adding the graphics card). I just wondered if any of you might think I was a wise choice for the Thermaltake. My only other choice was a "Sparkle" brand 700w, for $179.00. I dont know a whole lot about PSU's but I did read the stickies, and it just didn't seem like a good buy. Thanks.
