Install ram but beeps
I installed some new ram into my acer E380 desktop system and under system specs it says it has a max of 4gb of ram its able to hold but when I try and install any ram into the forth slot and reboot the system when I start it up it just beeps when I take ram out of the forth slot its ok. Also another issue that seems odd to me is when I have ram installed in the first to memory slots it says Dual Channel 164 bit when the bios starts up and scans my memory, but when I have any memory in the third slot it says Single Channel 64 bit whats up with that?
Thanks for any support your able to give me. |

Re: Install ram but beeps
First off, if you are using a 32bit operating system, your machine will
only be able to use a little of 3 gigs of ram. Operating system limit. Population rules are the reason if you put ram in certain slots you get different effects. If you have a manual this is explained. You are better off using the 2 gigs of ram in dual mode, rather than 3 gigs in single mode. imo......

Re: Install ram but beeps
So if I used a 64 bit operating system it would be the other way and what about my computer beeping even before it loads my operating system and the forth slot seeming to not work or be the one that is causing the beeping even if I use smaller sticks of ram that only equal up to 3 gb of ram so 2 1gb ram in the first two slots and two 512mb in the 3rd and forth.

Re: Install ram but beeps
Many OEM motherboards have issues running with all the slots full because you can not adjust the voltage in the OEM Bios, picking the correct 4 sticks is a important, did you use a memory configuration utility at the manufacturers web site?
