Confused Virtual memory low

Please forgive my ignorance; I am a computer dummy but, I need help! I have an emachine T3104 series. With Window XP. I have been getting a virtual memory low message whenever I use my microsoft works. I,m not sure what to do! The sites found on the web told me to go to "my computer". It said I should click customize or double size button. The customized button was already checked with this information: I have 82726MB space, Intial size(MB)288, Maximum size (MB)576; "The total file size for all drives" minimum allowed 2MB, Recommended is 285MB and Currently allocated 454MB. (HUH?!whats MB (does it mean memory board)?) The site said I could also check the System managed size button. It recommended I upgrade the Physical RAM on my computer. (this sounds expensive!) I remove some unused files ( I have a game file that will not come off though!). I'm sure there are more files that can be removed. to get more space.I'm just not sure which ones. Why would I get a low memory message if I have a total of 82726MB space?

My System

Re: Virtual memory low

First of.. how much is your RAM or memory. You can check that by going to my computer > right click > properties. It will be stated along with the processor.

From there, you will know how much page file to set. Usually i set 3gig to 5gig, but thats on 2 gig of RAM.

MB - Megabyte
Gig - Gigabyte or 1000 MB

Oh for your info, upgrading RAM is very cheap
