burnt motherboard or something

well i have another better computer than the one im using and one day i removed the little battery that stores all the information in the bios so then i tried turning on the computer and i heard some pop sound and smoke came out so i checked inside of it and there was a burnt wire connected to the power supply and so i removed it and tried turning it on and there was a blank screen the computer wouldnt boot up ( well you can hear it but up like everything is starting up but theres a black screen ) so i just left it there for an hour then later i turned it on and it worked so i was happy and i used it for an hour or so... then i turned it off and soon i wanted to use it again and it wouldnt turn on ( same problem ) so i was wondering if it was the motherboard being butrnt out or problems with the power supply?

Hi bloodman376, it could be a number of things. You may have accidentally damaged the board itself or any of the connected hardware or as you mentioned the psu.

Do you hear any beeps when you power on?

nope cause if it did its probably the rams fault

System beeps relate to various hardware errors from GPU, PSU, CPU, RAM etc.

Look for leaking capacitors on the motherboard as this is a sure sign of damage.
What was the reason you booted the computer without the CMOS battery installed?
The burnt wire, was it connected to anything ? What did the end connector on the burnt wire look like ?

well its looked like the wire was used for the cpu and its was connected to something connected to the power box thing

see if you can borrow another power supply to try in it of equal or better wattage
