recognised RAM seems low??

Hi,

i have 1 x 1GB of RAM in one slot and 256MB in the other but in computer properties it tells me i have 1.18GB...is that right??

For proper support: what are you running? graphics, cpu, m/board, ram, PSU brand wattage

integrated gfx means that the computer is using an onboard graphics processor unit, or GPU, instead of an add-in graphics card... The memory available (Ram) to the processor is reduced by the amount of memory the GPU uses. An ad-in card has its own memory, and therefore reduces the amount of Ram lost to GPU use...

i've done all of this and still couldnt tell..anohter poster on my other thread has just said

"It would appear that you have integrated graphics capability built into your motherboard. The SiS 661FX is an onboard graphics chipset on Intel motherboards. Your last post also indicates that you have an AGP x8 video slot, so I'd say that you can upgrade your video card from the onboard graphics."
