[SOLVED] Troubleshooting a upgrade problem

I Decided to buy a new 1tb hard drive...
My Comp has been running fine... now when ever i plug in the second sata hard drive the system wont load.. powers for 1 second then reboots... disconect the drive and works again.... i have tried the drive in another pc and it works fine...

Motherboard: Gigabyte ga-ep43-ds3
new 1tb hard drive: Seagate barracuda 7200.11

I upgraded the bios thinking this the problem... but the drive only needs to be connected to power to halt, even with sata cable unplugged...

Not sure what else to try any help would be apreciated.

Re: Troubleshooting a upgrade problem

Also, be specific about the power supply. The wattage, brand and model will help.

Re: Troubleshooting a upgrade problem

Try a different power supply, either the power cable is shorting on something or it does not have enough power to power the drive.

Re: Troubleshooting a upgrade problem

The power supply is brand new, It was my first guess so i took it out and down to store to get tested. its all ok.

The Comp runs 100% fine normally its only when i connect a second sata drive

Re: Troubleshooting a upgrade problem

Look at the label on the side of the PSU it will list the rail voltages and ratings if it lists 12v more then once then how many times and what is the amp rating for each?
