PC doesn't start. Power supply?

So I was surfing the internets and the PC just shut down, just like that. Not shut down as in windows shut down but actual sudden death, like the power was cut off. No prior incidents of such problems on my PC. After it shut down like that the power button does nothing at all, nothing happens at all. I opened up the PC and looked at the components and there's no sign of anything burning, I took off the CPU fan (just out of paranoia) and blew off the dust, placed it back and tried to turn on the pc again but it's shot. So, could it be the power supply or is it the motherboard? I'm sorry but I can't name the power supply I have cos i don't really know the specifics.

If you could borrow one, that might be the best direction to go for right now. Just see if you can swap one in there to try.

ok so i took my PSU to a friend and tried it with his PC, and the power supply worked. Does this mean it's the motherboard?
