Hey guys
Recently I tried to install 2 gigs of ddr2 memory I unplugged the power cord, and followed all the steps provided. After the ram was in, i plugged the power back and turned the computer on. The problem is my computer makes a series of beeping noises and refuses to start up!! I read on at the troubleshooting that when beeping occurs, it could be my BIOS not recognizing the ram, and a solution would be to update my BIOS. The update went nicely. So i tried again but the same problem still occurs!! The black screen and the beep. Need help getting my computer to work plz Any help would be greatly appreciated! =) Motherboard: Intel D945GTP Processor: Pentium D (3.4ghz dual) RAM: Kingston Technology 1Gb DDR2 x2 Hard drive: Western Digital 300Gb SATA II

Re: Computer Beeps on Startup!! Help Plzz
check the beep code here
www.bioscentral.com make sure the ram is seated don't rely on the clips clicking over as it does not mean iit is seated when they do

Re: Computer Beeps on Startup!! Help Plzz
Thx Dai,
I tried searching up my beep code and i found on Intel that 3 beeps meant >>> Base 64 K memory failure * Reseat the memory. * Make sure that the contacts on the memory and the socket are clean. * Try removing one bank of memory modules at a time. Note: Some systems might need to have a memory module in Bank 0. * Try using memory modules from the same manufacturer with the same part number and speed. * Check for a faulty memory module by trying the memory in a known good system. * Trying known good memory in the system. * Check the power supply and check for power fluctuations. * If the steps above do not resolve the problem, the desktop board may be defective. Try a different desktop board. Is there anything i can do if my BIOS doesnt recognize my ram and i can't get to the the BIOS because my computer only beeps on startup?

Re: Computer Beeps on Startup!! Help Plzz
did you reset the cmos
try it with 1 stick in cmos reset turn the computer off remove the power lead from the back take the side off remove the cmos battery move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2 reinsert the battery put the side on replug in the power lead boot the computer there can be 2 solder points you touch with a screwdriver 2 pins you touch with a screwdriver or use a jumper a cmos clear switch or button there will be a diagram and instructions in your manual

Re: Computer Beeps on Startup!! Help Plzz
thanks for your reply dai
I searched up my manual and tinkered with the pins. In the end, i managed to bring up the bios with my old ram in and changed the settings back to the way they were. However, the new ram still doesnt work.
