4 Gig Memory Not recognised even on XP 64 bit OS
Dear Group,
I have had this problem for a while and I have not been able to find a decisive answer as yet. I built my own system. The main components being as follows: Windows XP 64 bit Professional OS DFI P35 Lanparty Motherboard Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 processor Nvidia 8800 series graphics card x4 1 Gig Corsair ram (4 gig in total) However, in System information Windows says I only have 3.25 Gig memory. Why? So many people in the forums I have seen put it down to the OS. But I am using a 64 bit OS. Is there one of the components as listed above that is somehow responsible? Or is there some setting either in Windows or BIOS that I need to change so that 4.0 Gig is recognised. I am wanting to increase my memory to 8 Gig, which is the maximum my motherboard will support. But there is absolutely no point if it will not be recognised. Any help would be appreciated. Keith |

Re: 4 Gig Memory Not recognised even on XP 64 bit OS
I was told once there might be a switch somewhere in the OS for problems like that, typically used for backward compatiability or something. But no for sure answer, or where it would be.
