Dual Channel Kit and my old memory
So im ordering
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231065 this high performance dual channel kit memory for my ASUS CROSSHAIR motherboard. I've already got a 1g stick and 2 512 sticks that are in no way dual channel. My question is: Would my motherboard go whacko if i put the dual channel kit in along with the 1g stick (don't need the 512's in as xp doesnt see over 3g correct?). Also would it shoot all of the frequency's down to the non dual channeled's 533 mhz speed. In the future would i be safe buying another kit of the same http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231065 for vista 64 bit? thanks for the help. |

Re: Dual Channel Kit and my old memory
RAM in an array will drop to slowest speed in array.
Dual channel affects all 4 slots. In your case, I would recomend the kit plus both 512's. This would give you dual channel.

Re: Dual Channel Kit and my old memory
of the 4 slots, ALL slow down to the slowest RAM chip. and RAM must be installed as either 2 or 4 sticks for dual channel.
