Power Supply Safe or Not
I went out and bought a BFG Tech GS 550 Watt ATX Power Supply so that I can upgrades in the future cause my system was experiencing power issues. I want to know if it is safe to plug it in. 550 Watts might be too much for my system to handle. Would a high wattage power supply burn out my motherboard.

It will only draw what it needs.
HOWEVER, i would advise reading the power supply link in my signature. BFG is not one of our supported power unit brands.

For proper support: what are you running? graphics, cpu, m/board, ram, PSU brand wattage PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts. That's a 650W PSU. Power Supply Info and Selection . Info on thermal compounds & application . TEST PSU USING MULTI-METER . Bench Testing Your System |
