ram problem plz help
hey guys ive had a look at a few of the posts to try n solve my problem.
whats happend is ive taken 2x corsair ddr2 1g sticks from my pc and placed them in my parents computer theyve got a pentium4 2.6, p4vmam motherboard i think. and a 230w powersupply running xp. they only had a old 1x 256 ddr400 stick in it. went to turn it on and monitor wouldent come on there was power goin to the mother board etc fans were goin harddrive light on the case was on but no power light on the front of the case. swapped the ram back to the 256 ddr400 n still same problem is there anything i can do to get it working again or hav i rooted the comp obviously the motherboard doesnt support ddr2 (the ddr2 1g sticks still work in my computer) any help will be greatly appriciated as i dnt really wanna fork out the $$ for new parts :( |

if it did not support ddr2 they would not have fit as the keying would be different
the board uses ddr if you forced them partially in you have probably shorted out the m/board from the specs • Memory: 2 x 184-pin DDR SDRAM PC3200 (DDR400) DDR SDRAM Maximum 2GB

yes if thats what happend
you have listed the correct m/b http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=P4VMA-M cmos reset turn the computer off remove the power lead from the back take the side off remove the cmos battery move the cmos jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pin 2 and 3 and the back to pins 1 and 2 reinsert the battery put the side on replug in the power lead boot the computer there can be 2 solder points you touch with a screwdriver 2 pins you touch with a screwdriver or use a jumper a cmos clear switch or button there will be a diagram and instructions in your manual

step dad dsnt want me playn around with it incase i make things worse.. ahh well i tried hes guna have to pay sum1 to do it then. cause i aint payen for parts that it doesnt need. cheers for the help man im defenatly making this page a favourite. cya
