Am I drawing too much power? How?

I've recently installed an additional 2GB of RAM into my system. When running something that demanded high graphics performance (from integrated graphics), I was forcefully rebooted. I ran SpeedFan to check for over-voltages. Here's a screenshot.

I notice I'm drawing 5.67V on the 5V rail. What devices should I look into as I'm not in a good position to buy a new PSU.

Specs

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
2GB DDR2 RAM (1 stick, after removing the other stick which was 1GB)
ECS GeForce 7050-M-M (latest BIOS, drivers, etc.)
Thermaltake PurePower 500-Watt ATX 12V 2.0
1 HDD (IDE), 1 DVD +/- RW (SATA)

Thanks!

Re: Am I drawing too much power? How?

I am not sure that is accurate. Some times these program report voltages and temperatures that are not accurate and/or a sensor might be acting up. Normally, I like to check the bios voltages and temperatures, because they are normally the most accurate. I would start by doing that.

What video card are you trying to run with a 500 watt power supply? You might have an issue in that area if it is a decent video card.

Re: Am I drawing too much power? How?

The RSM is pulling about 1.8V (last I checked, that is a stable amount for DDR2), and the CPU about 3.3V.

Any idea what other devices I should consider looking into?

What video card (I just caught that you said integrated graphics ) are you trying to run with a 500 watt power supply? You might have an issue in that area if it is a decent video card.
The readings you see are not power draws, but are the outputs by the power supply, and you are correct, they are way out of specs for a good power supply. That is why I asked you to look in the bios to see what the bios says. Again, that would most likely be most accurate. That is also the reason I asked about the video card to see what you are using that takes power. Please give us the bios readings so we can look in to the issue you have.

Re: Am I drawing too much power? How?

the onboard 7050 i dont think is a terribly bad chip. Granted it's still onboard.

I don't think you're overdrawing yet, but what I do see is that you need to check your RAM timings (typically 5-5-5-15 for 2 GB sticks), as well as you're only in single channel RAM mode.

PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts. That's a 650W PSU.

Re: Am I drawing too much power? How?

just for the record, the thermaltake pure power is a horrible low quality power supply .............. I would not be shocked to find that wayyyy out of spec voltages

Re: Am I drawing too much power? How?

Thanks for the help guys. It turned out to be a RAM issue, not the PSU.

Still gonna upgrade my PSU though. I need a little wiggle room for future expansion. :)
