Will New Power Supply Improve Performance

Just out of curiosity I was wondering if a new power supply will improve my systems performance. I will be getting one for Christmas, but wont get a graphics card until July. Will the power supply improve something at least. I would be happy even if it gave the slightest amount of improvement in performance. I dont wanna be left with nothing but a power supply that sits there. LOL!!!!!!!! Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!

Re: Will New Power Supply Improve Performance

There is no definitive answer to this question. This is an "iffy" question that might be specific to each situation.

If you presently have a power supply that skimps on voltages (can't produce enough) or even overheats from trying to keep up and subsequently makes other components hot from that, then the answer would be it is quite possible/probable you will see an increase in performance from those components getting the power they need.

If you are just changing the PSU so you can upgrade in the near future and your present power supply is presently doing what you need, then most likely you won't see any improvement.

That is my opinion.
