Confused Corsair 620w do i need an upgrade?

Hey guys,

Well basically i have a Corsair 620w Modular power supply, and i'm not to sure about getting an upgrade.
So to start off, the main reason im confused about getting an upgrade is that, i have bought a eVGA 9800GX2 1Gb graphics card, and it requires at least a 600w power supply (I know Wattage doesnt play a huge roll in power requiremnts) but the Corsair 620w can handle 50A combined on a 12V rail, but the 9800 requires 40A or more.

So should i invest getting a new PSU, if so, is there a way to send it back to Corsair and tell them the outcome, because my PSU is literally about 3 months old or 4, so could i send it in and get like a discount on say a 1000W power supply? (I Know thats a stupid question, but its my money haha)

If you say no i should keep my PSU and use it, just remeber how much juice im taking away from the 620w.

My Current Spec's

AMD Athlon 64 6000+ X2 (Overclocked to 3.3GH'z) using ZALMAN CNPS 9500
Corsair 2GB (2X1GB) 1.9v XMS2 PC2-6400 DDR2 800MHz
Corsair Dominator Airflow Fan
TSST Corp CD/DVD-RW-DL TS-H552D
2x160Gb Samsung Sata 7200RPM [RAID 0]
23CM Blue LED side case fan
4 X 120mm Blue LED case Fans
1 X 90mm Blue LED Case Fan
2 x Cohode Blue neon glow tubes
2 x Cohode purple neon glow tubes.
12 in 1 multi card reader.
*9800gx2 1gb*

thats all thats running inside my computer from the 620w power supply. so would this be suffice to run the 9800?

Heres a link that i found interesting about the 620w, might help you guys in a opinion:

Thanks for your time.

Re: Corsair 620w do i need an upgrade?

My advice to you is to sell the Corsair 620 on Ebay (should bring a great price on there since it is a great power supply) and go for something like an 850+ for that card. The Corsair 620 simply is not enough power IMHO.

If you are talking about the 1000 watt, then you would be future proofing yourself as you evidently love those high powered video cards. That would be an ideal size for you.
