question about memory

I want to upgrade my memory and i see 2 open slots on my mother board. The label sticker on memory stick says 'hynix 512 mb IRx8 PC2-5300u-555-12 .
Does this mean i can buy any memory stick that is PC2-5300?
( its a dell E521 and specs says : 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs ).

Re: question about memory

Most of the time you should be able to put in whatever ram higher, but it will clock down to the max speed for the board, (having more is just for overclocking ,somethign a dell can not do)

Re: question about memory

so. that means. i can buy, lets say. ddr2 pc2-6400 or something like that. if i put it in, it will just slow down and adjust to my motherboard but it should still work fine? My other one is pc2-5300, 512mb x 2 . does it matter if u have 2 different speeds of memory??
