Just installed PSU

I just installed the PSU on the computer, and now it comes up drives 0,1,2,4, and 5 not found. Strike F1 key to continue or F2 to run set-up utility, and if you hit F1 it says 'No Boot device available.'. What was done wrong?

Re: Just installed PSU

Yeah. They are only four things plugged up. Two on the motherboard and two on the cd drive and dvd drive. They told me to use a 8 slot plug for one thing, and they said if it only has four slots to use the right half of the 8 plug thing but it won't fit. Only the 4 slot will fit.

I got that connected and the one that has 22 slots, the two for the cd/dvd drives, and that's the only ones that was connected before. But it's not working.

Re: Just installed PSU

Unfortunately not. My camera was stolen a couple months ago.

However, my computer only has the two spots for plugs from the PSU on the board itself, along with the ones for the DVD and DVDRW drives. It is a Dimension 8400, and the PSU is the one I was recommended here, the Silencer 500.

Will look at the link when I finish with post, thanks a lot.

But nope, it only has the 22 and a 4. I really wish the cords on the new PSU had been labeled themselves like the ones on the original.

Re: Just installed PSU

Ok, got the computer working. Turns out my cousin didn't plug the hard drive in.

However, I'm still not having my DVD drives working. Also, when my computer first loads it I get an error about a floppy drive (which I don't have). I removed it from my boot list, but I still get that. Admittedly I can just hit F1, but I wonder if there's not a way to get that gone.

Re: Just installed PSU

hmmmmmm the floppy error is a bios bug or corruption ........ I would say try to update your bios ...... make sure you use the bootable DOS method ....... either get a floppy drive or usb stick / pen drive

DONT use the windows flashing utility !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are the power and data cables plugged in to the DVD drives check the data cables on both ends.

Re: Just installed PSU
