Monitor Problem

A friend of mine just bought the parts for a new computer.. everything but the case and DvD drive because he already had one.

He connected his monitor into the slot on the graphics card, and the monitor wouldn't show anything... anything know what's wrong? And he cant connect it on the motherboard.. the piece doesnt fit.

Re: Monitor Problem

List all hardware specs, including power supply wattage and brand.
Does he get any beeps, describe what the machine does.,or doesnt do.
Need hardware specs though. Did he insure that the brass standoffs
were in the right place for his new mobo, a standoff in the wrong place
will cause a short, causing no boot, and possibly frying the board...

Re: Monitor Problem

I don't exactly know what it does, I'll go over to his house and check it out. He just called me up and told me that when he connected the monitor to his graphics card it would not turn on, but it would turn on when he connects it to his old computer. He said he did insure that the brass standoffs where in the right place. I'll ask him about beeps and what it does exactly...

Specs:
Processor
Memory (x2)
Hard Drive
Motherboard
Graphics Card
Power Supply

Case (The case isn't new though, he's had it for a few months)

Re: Monitor Problem

Yes the supply is too small but I would expect it to post to the Bios screen ]
Does he have both 6pin power leads hooked to the video card?
And you might want to try this to see if there is a problem with the stand offs> How to Bench Test Your System
