Computer won't start
Hi! Hope you can help with this.
1. Computer wouldn't start when on /off button pressed. opened up case, standby light on m/b was lit. Monitor was getting power. Could hear power supply "boot up" (whiny tone) when the switch at the back was toggled from off to on. Also had intermittent keyboard loss last month - bought new keyboard (ps2 connection). THis morning the keyboard didn't work - rebooted and then it worked fine. 2. Bought new power supply. Installed, etc. When turn on it boots but then doesn't get too far - 1 long beep followed by 2 short ones. Looked up beep codes online and it sounds like something wrong with video? But there is no video card in this 'business' machine. 3. Swapped out memory just in case. Still happening - 1 long beep, 2 shorter beeps. 4. checked all cables, there are no PCI cards at all. Here are as much system as I can remember (can't boot to do everest): Antec 1650 case Asus P5s800-vm socket 775 m/b intel pentium4 2.66 socket775 Windows XP 2 80 gig h/d replaced 350W antec p/s with 500W p/s Any help / ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated!! Thanks! |
