upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

I have an HP Pavilion a1310y already had 512MB RAM DDR2-4200 533Hz installed. I bought two 1GB sticks of the same type of RAM but when i install, it freezes at the HP screen with no access to Windows XP. Any help? Taking out the new RAM and leaving the old RAM still inside makes the computer start up normal. HELP Please....

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

Pull the old ram out, install the new ram, see what happens, may
be a compatibility problem ie voltage...

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

Corsair DDR2-4200 533Hz...It should be working though. It's the same model that my computer runs on its old RAM.

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

That is not a part number that is part of the spec is it double sided or single, high or low density?

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

The part number should look similar to this "VS1GB533D2"
Since Corsair does not list your model on their site you will probably have to call or Email them.> http://www.corsair.com/configurator/default.aspx

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

Your going to have to contact Corsair either the ram is defective or it's not compatible to your pc

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

so you're saying it shoulda been compatible regardless of voltage use or density or whatnot?

Re: upgraded RAM and now windows won't start

Glad to hear you got it figured out. Ram can be a funky thing to predict,
as you have seen, very finicky....or can be..
