RAM problem
I have been assigned to upgrade the memory in a number of my office's computers. When i opened them, i discovered that they have a three-slot DIMM arrangement. Also, i couldn't locate a system board user's manual for these computers. I installed a 128MB DIMM in each slot. When i started the computer, i saw from the POST that the system recognizes only 256MB of RAM!
What happened to the other 128MB of RAM, and how can i get the system to recognize it if at all possible for these 128MB DIMMs? |

Re: RAM problem
remove the coin type battery for 20 mins after you unplug the computer and destatic yourself by touching the unpainted metal in your case.
if you can find the rtc pins, you can move the jumper to the clear position, 1 and 2 get moved to 2 and 3....20 seconds..... then back to the default 1 and 2. destatic yourself, and clean out the dust while the case is open.
