Question [SOLVED] Suppose to be DDR2 800mhz but only shows 400mhz???

i have 2 sticks of OCZ Platinum Rev2 DDR2 800 memory sticks each stick is 1 gb for a total of 2 gbs. when i check on the values i have it shown that its running dual channel 400mhz but its suppose to be 800mhz and my motherboard supports DDR2800 so does anyone know how come its only being recognized at DDR2400?

i think also the config is 5-5-5-15 at 1.9volts.

I suppose it depends on where you are checking, but generally, when it shows 400mhz, that is 800. Double data rate eh. Just like the cpu is quad-pumped and you multiply the bus speed x4 to get cpu speed, ram is x2 (depending on the divider, of course).

Re: Suppose to be DDR2 800mhz but only shows 400mhz???

oh really, i think i did notice somewhere saying 2x so i guess its fine then. i'm using a cpu info thing called CUPID i think it was. i was thinking of changing it to 4-4-4-15 from the default 5-5-5-15, does that make a real difference in performance?

Re: Suppose to be DDR2 800mhz but only shows 400mhz???

DDR2 RAM will show at half the speed, so DDR2 800 will show as 400mhz (DDR2 = 2x 400mhz which is 800mhz)

As for the Timings, ive got mine at 4-4-4-12 and saw NO difference from 5-5-5-15
