trying to install ram
Hello, I was just given some ram from a friend and i put it in my computer (made sure it was clipped in right) and when i replug everything and go to boot up my computer it goes on but there is no video on the screen then when i take it out my pc works again.
I have Windows xp pro sp2 asus A8V motherboard (not the deluxe) and this ram i have is ddr1 1GB pc-3200 and im pretty sure that type works. thanks for any help. also i dunno if this is a problem, right now i have 2x 512 mb kingston ram cards and this a 1gb and it doesnt have any company printed on it. Are you sure it's exactly the same? Does the 1 gb stick have the same amount of chips on it.
Your brd might take ECC or Non-Ecc ram. Non = 8 chips. ECC = 9 chips. :http://www.memoryx.net/a8seriesmain.html |
