Re: psu help please!!!

Doesn't matter what wattage your PSU is rated at - they will never blow components up for being rated too high.

Corsair is a good choice - have one myself - HX 620 Modular. Awesome PSU.

Re: psu help please!!!

my pc is a hp dx2400 c2d 3gb ram, i understand (although I dont know for sure) its a mini-atx and the psu is a standard 300w (lite on ps 5301). This Corsair 650w TX should be ok then? from the reviews on corsair and this psu it sounds like a good one!!

thanks for the replies guys

Re: psu help please!!!

Of course it will be fine. In fact the 300w was probably a little underrated if anything.

Re: psu help please!!!

Well, it would just about power a modern system as long as it's a good 300w supply and not el cheapo £10 PSU.

Re: psu help please!!!

Tony, everything will be fine as long as it fits in the case. Give it a go and don't worry about it. That is an awesome supply.

Re: psu help please!!!

it was(well still is at moment) a liteon ps 5301 standard smite!! someone else was saying just check that the m/b is ATX12v compliant. If it has 24 pins on mb and also a pci-e slot I am guessing its ATX12v compliant????

Cheers

Cheers Tumbleweed. I am 100% convinced it will fit in case, my main worry was sparking something out when i plugged it in. Thanks for your reply!

Re: psu help please!!!

just to add to this, the atx_cpu has two black and two yellow cables coming from the psu....this is not to be confused with a cpu fan which is located the otherside of my cpu....cheers all

Re: psu help please!!!

Tony, hold on a minute, just checking on what you are saying. First of all, there has to be a CPU fan plug that you plug your heatsink fan in to. that is usually listed as the CPU_fan. Then, there should be a little square plug called the +12 molex that needs plugged in. Just make sure you have them all plugged in to the correct place. This plug sounds like the molex and not the cpu/heatsink/fan.

I am aware that some Dell and HP computers have the plug listed that way, so you best check your manual to make sure. If this is a proprietary board like Dell always check the manual to make sure it is the standard cpu/heatsink/fan connection because some proprietary boards list things differently.

Most boards list the Heatsink fan plug as the CPU fan. If you have that plug listed and have plugged the CPU/Heatsink fan in that one, then this one you have mentioned would be the normally square molex type plug.

Re: psu help please!!!

I have just check my mobo and there is a heatsink fan connector which is near to my memory slots...on the otherside is the 4 pin (atx_cpu) which having checked my existing psu is a P4 cable (its black and yellow cables leading back to psu). I am believing that is where i need to plug in the new EPS12v cable and this will still leave the cpu fan intact.

Cheers Tumbleweed36
