Causes of a bad 12 volt line?

I recently purchased a Dynapower 500W power supply from Newegg. Yeah, it was $19.99, but it had pretty much rave reviews and I thought it'd be good to try it out.

Well, I basically went from 11.40 - 11.50 V on my old PSU to 11.20 - 11.35 V on this new one.

What makes a 12 volt line faulty? How can I correct this or how can I troubleshoot it?

the quality of the psu.

You cannot correct it, i doubt it is fixable.

You should invest in a quality psu.

Re: Causes of a bad 12 volt line?

Video card: AGP Radeon X850XT
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3200+
Motherboard: Asus A7V8X-LA (Kelut)
RAM: 2 x 512 MB PC2700 don't remember the exact brand
Power supply: DYNAPOWER USA EP-50X.C563-BX, 500 watts

Nah, I use EVEREST Ultimate Edition to read my stuff. Would the BIOS give me a better reading?

Re: Causes of a bad 12 volt line?

the bios is the most reliable for accuracy
can you test the psu with a multi meter you don't have a power hungry system so new you would expect it to be closer to 12v than you are seeing

Re: Causes of a bad 12 volt line?

I can't figure out how to find the voltage setting in the BIOS...what key do I hit? On bootup (I have a Compaq) it says F1 = Setup and Esc = Boot Menu, but I can't find it in boot menu or set up...

Also, I remembered I had a wireless adapter (Linksys WMPG54, if I recall) and a TV Tuner card in my computer. Would removing those help out my power supply problem? The main problem is that whenever I boot up modern-day games like WoW, my computer will restart and on occasion, it will beep and nothing will boot up, even if it's powered on, and after a bit it goes back to normal.
