[SOLVED] Replacing an HP Powersupply with an Antec 500w
I have an HP Pavillion a1022n. Recently the PSU has been intermittently dying. I double checked everything to make sure it was the PSU and not the Motherboard, capacitors, etc. That done, I went and got an Antec 500w PSU as a replacement. It has the 20+4 pin breakaway and everything else I seem to need to power the HP.
Unfortunately, when hooked up, it does not work. If I remove the extra 4pin cable from the motherboard, I can get the fans to come on and a few lights, but not the HDD. With the 4 pin in, I get nothing at all. Am I missing something obvious or is HP proprietarily keepin the machine off? |

Re: Replacing an HP Powersupply with an Antec 500w
Well, at least on mine, I know it did not fry anything. I slapped the original PSU back in the box and fired the HP back up. Other than turning itself off every few hours, which it was doing before, it seems to be no worse from the operation. Maybe Antec sux?

Re: Replacing an HP Powersupply with an Antec 500w
R=red Y=yellow DB= dark Blue W=white X=0 GRY=grey
BK=black GN=green BU=blue OR=orange BN=brown On the new Antec, it is this. w/ X being an empty socket R Y R BLU X GRY BK BK BK R BK BK GN R BL BL R OR OR BN OR OR Y R BL SEPARATED FROM THE 20+4 BUNDLE I HAVE A 4 PIN Y Y BK BK On the old Norwood the pattern is R Y R DB W GRY BK BK BK R BK BK GN R BK BK BU OR OR OR Y Y BK BK So the only significant discrepancies are; A hole where a white one should be. A red for a blue. And the weird *ss lil brown one piggy backin an orange... Does not seem that bad. Now lemme cross check with the link u gave me. |

Re: Replacing an HP Powersupply with an Antec 500w
OK, thanx for the help. It is operating beautifully now. Fortunately there were enough wires to make a matching set... lol.
