PC shuts down when playing 3D games.
Hey guys,
I'm sure you guys have come across this problem before and I've read other peoples problems and seen how they've solved them (usually by purchasing a new PSU with more power) I would go ahead and do the same but I just want to confirm that the PSU is the actual problem in MY case so I don't go out and waste time/money buying a new PSU. Here's my spec: 550W PSU TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203D Sound Blaster Audigy Soundcard ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.61GHz 2.00 GB of RAM So what do you think? I play games like COD4 and Grid |

Re: PC shuts down when playing 3D games.
Download and run SensorviewPro and report the temps and the votages when you first start the rig up. Then, start playing a game and when it gets to working some, then report the temps while under stress and report all that info back here.
BTW, what is the brand name of that power supply? (look on the side with the case open)

Re: PC shuts down when playing 3D games.
You mentioned a 550 watt power supply, then a Corsair 500. Just curious which it really is. I do think a 500 watt Corsair (most 500 watt supplies won't) should pull that unit, but no guarantees.
How long has it been doing this? Have you added any drivers, hardware or such? Do you have a larger power supply or know someone that does to slip in there and give it a try before you try a new one? Also, just to be sure, check your voltages and temperatures in the bios to see what it says.
