Computer keeps freezing.

Recently my computer keeps freezing in the middle of anything I am doing.
Once it freezes I have to reboot and then it works for a few minutes and freezes again. I have Norton Antivirus I have scanned for viruses, spyware, malaware and everything appears to be clean.

I am using Windows XP Professional SP 3
Antholon Processor
1.20 GHZ 376 MB of RAM

Please help!

Re: Computer keeps freezing.

Computers can freeze for lots of different reasons. Could be overheating. There may be conflicts between apps (Norton may not like other programs loaded in your machine, for instance). Recently installed apps or hardware, peripherals, may be acting up.

Update your OS and drivers. Clean out your machine - blow out dust and clean any filters or vents you can access. I'd uninstall, one at a time, anything new which you may have recently installed. Personally, I'd choose a different AV, but actually doubt Norton is the cause of your problem. Take a look at your Event Viewer; you may be able to get an idea about what's happening there.
