Memtest Results
I recently ran memtest and I'm now looking at the results. I let it go for a few hours on a few different occasions, but it never actually ran for more than two seconds (A picture of the screen is attached). It came up with either one or two errors and then starting "halting". I have been having many BSODs ("irq not less or equal") and have suspected memory problems so this seems to fall in line. My question is... at this point should I replace the RAM? I just don't want to spend money on the RAM when it is actually something else. Thanks.

Re: Memtest Results
Hello microscopicxp
![]() Yes, I would say the RAM is faulty. There are errors in that screenshot. If you have more than one stick of RAM, test with only one in at a time. Then you will find out which one is bad. RAM is reasonably priced these days. How much do you have installed? .

Re: Memtest Results
I have two sticks, each with 512mb. I will test them and then get back if I have any more problems. Once I get rid of the bad stick(s), can I just simply add a larger one or can this cause problems? Thanks.

Re: Memtest Results
You have to be a bit careful.
I don`t know where you stay, but go to the Crucial Site (this is the US one) Click "Scan my system" You will get a report about what RAM is in your system, what the system can support, and also recommended RAM to buy which will be suitable. This is a pretty good company. I buy my RAM from their UK branch. .

Re: Memtest Results
when you test ram you test it one stick at a time or you are likely to see errors that do not exist
if your m/b can run ram in dual mode 2x 512 will be faster than a 1g stick ect.
