Should I Add More RAM
I have a new toshiba laptop only a couple of months old, these are the specs: 1.83Ghz core 2 duo, 1gb ram, 256 nvidia 7600go.
i played crisis, bioshock, and call of duty 4 on this laptop on decent settings.. and now games such as mass effect require a powerful computer soo i was wondering if adding 1 gb ram would be worth it since its very cheap.. and if it would help are there any side effects of adding ram.. Thank you |

Re: Should I Add More RAM
Adding more RAM won't do any harm at all and is very useful for multitasking and demanding games like Mass Effect. You should also consider upgrading the graphics card if your laptop allows this.

Re: Should I Add More RAM
Yes, the new RAM needs to match your existing RAM. Run CPU-Z and click the Memory tab to get your RAM details, then go online and find a suitable match. Or post back here with the full details from the CPU-Z Memory, Mainboard and SPD tabs.

Re: Should I Add More RAM
Another good resource for matching your RAM to your computer model (if you know the model #) would be to go to www.crucial.com, and you can order pretty cheap RAM there that definitely already matches you're computer.
But koala is right, consider your video card, too, because that also handles a memory load when playing hi-end games. |

Re: Should I Add More RAM
Also factor in that the 1GB of ram installed may be 2 x 512mb sticks, meaning that if you want to maintain dual interleaved ram, plus upgrade to 2gb, you may need to purchase 2 x 1GB sticks.
