[SOLVED] psu blinking but no life on power up

First I have seen of this. Push the on switch and nothing but blinking psu light. Even after unplugging power, flashing light on outside of psu stays flashing for an unusually long while. Normally light comes on and fades out when powered down or unplugged.
Tested psu with my psu tester and it tests good, but occasionally when plugging it in slow due to the plug being a tight fit, and me being graceful, the PG time is a bit long and alarm sounds on tester. Re-do and PG time is fine for several more tries.
All voltages test spot on, not even marginal. I ordered a new mobo and same story. MoBo was in a slightly manhandled usps box, but all looked ok. I have tried removing everything but one stick of memory. Maybe psu anyway?

One of my favorite links:
How to Bench Test Your System

I suppose I'll have to dig through the junk heap for a good one just to see. Ideas? Always good ones here, that's why I'm postin again.

cheers,
Mike

Re: psu blinking but no life on power up

Compaq Presario sr1230nx amd athlon xp 3200+ /512MB pc2700 ram /160GB ide hdd /ce-rom
Customer has added a bfg nvidia 5500 256MB video card with stock psu rated at 250 watts by bestech. Mobo is an a7v8x-la stock board I believe by asus.

My first thought was that this was stressing the psu to much and removed that first. You read the rest. I am thinking of trying an old psu that is also a 250 watt unit that is good. I formerly changed this one out for someone that wanted to upgrade their pc with an antec 480 earth watts or some name like that. I am going to recommend that this individual do the same as well as add another stick of ram.

Re: psu blinking but no life on power up

Got it up and running.
Bad PSU that tested good!
Must be the slow PG test on occasion. Just thought perhaps I wasn't getting the cord plugged into the psu fast enough to get a good test. I'll have to keep a spare psu around from now on.
I'll mark it solved.
