[SOLVED] Power issue?

I've recently bought a new motherboard(Asus M3N-HT Deluxe 780A SLI)& stuck it in a new antec 900 case & basically just swapped all the insides from my old machine(Asus M2N-MX SE) to my new one, stuff like ram, cpu, psu, gpu e.t.c.

Thing is I've just noticed somthing and was wandering if its supposed to be like that. When I shutdown my computer using start menu shutdown after it has completely shutdown & all the fans have gone off I noticed that my keyboard & mouse still seem to be drawing power as their lights are still on.They remain on the whole time. Also as an experiment I plugged my MP3 player into the usb port to see if it charges it when my computer is off & it does, even though its shutdown it still charges.

On my old pc when I shutdown everything goes off keyboard & mouse aswell. Is this suppose to be like this? I suppose its no real biggy but I'd sooner everything be shutdown. Until I solve this I've been turning the PSU off at the back so's that everything is off.

Any ideas would be appreciated,thanks.

Re: Power issue?

Hi Trent,

Yes that is normal for your new mobo, generally mobo's have bios power settings that dictate whether the pc fully shuts down or sleeps till there's some activity like mouse moved or key pressed etc...

Your mobo is more sophisticated, guess you don't know it can do this...

I suggest you browse the CD that came with the mobo, read the pdf files for details about it's features and accompanying software.

Re: Power issue?

Cheerz Stu. Yeah I knew about the express gate I've used it a few times as the internet surfing is faster. I put together this machine myself for the first time & everything went really well but I was just a little baffled as to why keyboard & mouse were still drawing power.Recently I've had a bad run of faulty goods so naturally you assume the worst.Cheerz for the advice.
