I need some pro's suggestions for FPS games thx
Well basically, 3 months ago i've bought my new pc, i've spent around $1400US(or less), my pc specs are:
Winxp, if someone can give me good suggestion to switch to vista i'll think about it coz i love xp and i've seen alot of reviews saying that vista drops around 10-30 fps in average Asus P5K Kingston 2x1GBPC2 - 6400 CL6 240 Asus EX9800GTX TOP Intell Core2duo e8400 Delta ServerPSU 550W 22"inch samsung 2232gw plus monitor, so i will probably run the new games at 1600x1200. Audio card, i don't really care about audio cards HD from seagate 320GB 16m i've got around 14xxx points on 3dmark 06 (the trial version only) well my favorite game is cs 1.6 which is extremely good to play with this pc but at cod4 i like to play with nice graphics so when i boost everything up to the maximum 4x aa, everything on, i play with vync off, etc... and i get 4xfps in some occasion such as like in smoke or when im looking at a flame.. without those smokes and everything i still dont feel it smooth, hm let's say it's like a big dif when u play it with everything on low settings, the fire rate, recoil, etc.. so i'm thinking if i need another upgrade ;o any suggestions?:O new display card? new os? add more ram(3gb)? new mb? dual display cards? (but i will have to upgrade my cooling system and maybe my mb and psu... so i probably will think of single ones)? please show me some pictures of the benchmarks if u are going to say which is the best display card or ati beats nvidia or some users which is reading my post maybe give me ur comment of what u feel/experience with similiar spec... thanks :) |

Re: I need some pro's suggestions for FPS games thx
I wouldn't recommend running a 9800GTX on a low quality Delta 550W PSU. The rest of your specs are easily good enough to play modern games at good framerates on high settings with no lag, but the 9800 needs a good quality 650W PSU (SeaSonic, Silverstone, OCZ, Corsair, etc)
Enter your full system specs into this power calculator and set Capacitor Aging to 25%. Click the Calculate button, then add 30% to the total to allow for PSU inefficiency.

It might be good enough to run the computer in desktop mode, but fullscreen gaming mode puts extra strain on your components.
Run the calculator to confirm it's good enough, and check the label on the side of the PSU. It should have at least 26 amps on the +12V line.

Which Antec?
You'll have to test your graphics card on another computer with a suitable PSU to see if it's damaged.

The power calculator will tell you the power requirements for any upgrades.
