Help Monitor Not Working.

Hi, please help.

Basically my monitor was working fine. I had RAM i wanted to install so i turned off my computer. and the monitor. opened up the case, stuck the ram in (took me a while to figure out how - first time). Replaced the case. Turned on the computer. The monitor says: No Input. The light turns orange. Nothing appears. However my mouse and keyboard have lit up. The computer's light turns on, fan runs, etc.

I've also tried a different monitor with a different cable and it says "power saving mode" and nothing shows up.

And if it helps:
running windows xp serv. pack 2
monitors tried were viewsonic and LG (LCD monitors)
ram was 1GB

any other relevant info u can think of, i can probably provide

Re: Help Monitor Not Working.

Put the old ram back in, there must be a compatibilty issue. Check
your qvl for the board. Qvl,= qualified vendor list.

Re: Help Monitor Not Working.

thx for reply.

there was 1gb ram inside before this happened. I added another 1gb of ram inside while keeping the old ram there.
The ram i chose was based on a program called CPU-Z.
It told me the memory in Slot #1 was a PC2-5300 (333Mhz) by crucial technology.
The ram i bought was from 'rendition.' It had the same part number (RM12864AA667.8FE) so i thought it would be okay.

I took out the new ram and the computer is running on the old ram. However the monitor still is blank.

Right now i am looking into the qvl thing for my comp.

Re: Help Monitor Not Working.

Hi Problem solved.

I read some where that cleaning it may solve the problem.
Turns out it did. Removed my old ram, cleaned it and the slot.
put back the old ram. cleaned my new ram and its slot, and added it.
monitor is working again (hurray!) and the computer reads 2gb of mem. (sweet)

thanx anyway for the suggestions.
please close thread, etc.
