Blown Main Fuse
The plug top fuse in the power lead to the computer tower blew on inserting the plug into the power socket. I replaced the fuse with another with the same result though this time the fuse remained intact and something failed internally. I suspect that there might be a short circuit internally in the power supply, but before splashing out on a newPSU I would like to be sure that the fault is confined to the PSU and not further on into the motherboard or other peripherals.
The computer is a Packard Bell IMedia 2.4GHz P4 fitted with a 245watt FSP PSU with a old style ATX motherboard with a 20pin molex supply to the motherboard |
