Can I get a POS reading on this?

http://www.pcpower.com/power-supply/...crossfire.html

I have never heard of this but the specs are decent. My nephew has it in his rig and he has issues. Thanks.

Re: Can I get a POS reading on this?

PC Power and COoling generally make good PSU's and the specs on that look quite good as you already mentioned. Thats not to say your newphew's PSU isn't defective, because even quality companies have the odd QC issue.

What issues does your nephew have specifically?

Re: Can I get a POS reading on this?

Asus M2A-MVP
ADATA DDR2-800 1 GIG
AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4600+
RADEON HD 2900GT

It shuts down without warning. No timeline just when ever it feels.

Besides the PSU I think the Memory is a weak brand.

Re: Can I get a POS reading on this?

Does it blue screen? If so, to enable us to determine the issue, diable automatic shutdown on BSOD, record the error and include it here. At this stage it could be a number of things.

Can you get him to Download PC Wizard, install it and run it. THen go to FILE, SAVE AS, click OK and then copy that file's text into this thread with the BSOD message.

Re: Can I get a POS reading on this?

Ya I already told him that so I could get a code to look up, but he says it just goes black, no blue screen of death. I have not witnessed the occurence first hand so not sure. I plan on swapping out the PSU first and then trying new memory.

I will download the PC wizard and bring it over and run it and post the info. Thanks. Should update here tomorrow.

So what does the PC Wizard tell you?
Got it all system info.

Re: Can I get a POS reading on this?

George, you wanted an opinion so here it is.

PC Power & Cooling is one of the top Power Supply manufacturer's in the world. They are heads and shoulders above most others and stand right up there with Seasonic and Corsair as the best of the best. It is possible to get a bad one right off the shelf (does happen with all brands), but that is not normal for such a reputable manufacturer as PC Power & Cooling. I would recommend them to anyone.

BTW, where they heck have you been...seems as you have not been around too much lately? Hope everything is going O.K. for you.
