Hyperx PC2-8500, E6850, Asus P5Q-E mojo issue
Hi,
Hoping you guys can help me out with this: Just replaced my MB from a P5B-Deluxe to a P5Q-E. All the other parts I moved over, and now have a bigger aftermarket cooler, and more spacious case as well. The CPU (E6850) temperatures have dropped by about 20C, but the overall speed of the rig is slower. It feels as if half the chip isnt working. It registers everywhere as 3Ghz fully working, with its voltage at 1.29 (everything in Bios - 1003 - on auto, except for CE1 and Speedstep disabled, Ram's frequency manually set to DDR-1066, with CAS timing 5-5-5-18 at 2.2V.) Now I really dont know enough about this to work it out, as the rig runs my studio. Looking for an optimum workstation thats at least faster than my old one (considering the MB technology is 2 years younger) running on stock settings, with no real use for an overclock. 3Ghz/2GB is plenty for audio processing. The frequency of the Ram is at 534, with the ratio at 8/5, and ive got plenty of juice from a 650W Corsair PSU. If you found the problem already, hit me up! Regards, K Edit: allready tried a clean reinstall & same problem persists. The chip has the G0 stepping if that helps Last edited by kasprouch; 08-14-2008 at 08:08 AM. |
