Plug a 20 pin PSU in a 24 pin mobo?
Hello
I believe my new PSU to be broken(DOA) but before I send it back I would like to be sure(they charge me for postage). My motherboard accepts a 24 pin power connector but my older PSU that I want to test it with is only 20. I would rather not buy anything extra, do I need a 20>24 adapter or can I just stick the 20 pin directly in? I hear the extra 4 pins are for the graphics card, I will have this unplugged at the time. Basically I want to see if the motherboard/CPU/heatsink manages to keep powered on. Also should I plug the 4 pin at the end of the 20 pin? Thanks Last edited by toka; 08-14-2008 at 07:28 AM. |

Re: Plug a 20 pin PSU in a 24 pin mobo?
To be technically correct it's 23 pin. I've used a 20 pin and got away with it. Depends on the make of M/B. You could get a 20/24 connector.
